About This Role

The Human Resources Business Partner will support Transcendia's Grand Rapids plant, ensuring strategic initiatives are met by managing workforce capabilities and maintaining effective, compliant employee relations systems. This role involves both strategic HR leadership and transactional support for a plant of 180-210 employees.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage systems to support strategic business direction and foster a learning culture within the plant.
  • Lead the development of managers and supervisors in employment law, performance management, and professional development.
  • Monitor employee development, address talent gaps, and ensure key employees have growth opportunities through training and education.
  • Conduct recruitment for all personnel, including new-employee orientations and management of the tuition reimbursement program.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental rules and regulations, reporting concerns to Corporate Human Resources.
  • Perform HR transactional work, including onboarding, background screens, new hire paperwork, and I-9 compliance.
  • Answer employee benefit questions, manage open enrollment, and drive wellness initiatives.
  • Manage work-related injuries with the workers' comp carrier and handle FMLA, STD, and LTD claims.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures, including participation in handbook maintenance.

Requirements

  • Strong employee relations capabilities
  • Ability to handle both strategic and transactional tasks
  • Ability to translate strategic plans into HR approaches with metrics
  • Knowledge of state and local FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, and other regulations
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Effective communication and interaction skills at all organizational levels
  • Prior experience with HR Information and Payroll systems
  • Ability to create and deliver effective presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related field, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of professional experience in human resources

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in HR Management
  • SHRM Certification
  • Exposure to ADP WFN
  • Bilingual in Spanish
