Provide timely and confidential home visitation services to military families with expectant parents and children up to three years old. Support families at risk for child maltreatment and violence by offering information, referrals, parenting programs, and community resource connections to enhance family well-being and military mission readiness.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective, timely and confidential services for families at risk for child maltreatment and/or family violence
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of client information
- Identify and report suspected child abuse and neglect and domestic abuse
- Assess developmental milestones and make referrals for special needs or developmental delays
- Assess and strengthen adaptation to parenthood and parental capacity for problem-solving
- Promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills and disciplinary techniques
- Facilitate community networks to build positive relationships and reduce social isolation
- Develop relationships with local community and military installation officials to maximize program effectiveness
- Utilize community-based services to provide concrete support for families in crisis
- Utilize methods for screening and addressing protective and risk factors associated with child abuse and neglect
- Keep tracking system up to date with case status
- Participate in monthly conference calls and annual training events
Requirements
- 2+ years direct experience in child or domestic abuse, or maternal or child health or medical social work
- Home visitation experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Auto insurance
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- 2+ years of direct work experience in child abuse, domestic abuse, maternal/child health, or medical social work; must have home visitation experience
