The Home Visitor provides comprehensive home-visiting services to expectant parents and families with young children within a strength-based, family-centered model. This role assesses family needs, partners with parents on development goals, and supports families in expanding their support systems. Serving as a critical member of the Early Head Start team, this position aims to advance the well-being of children by investing in families and strengthening communities.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to and support implementation of all Performance Standards, program philosophy, and Brightpoint's policies and procedures
- Implement the assigned Home Visiting model with fidelity and keep certification current
- Write weekly lesson plans and conduct age-appropriate activities with parents and children
- Assist Family Support Specialists in assessing family needs and setting goals
- Assist parents in understanding age-appropriate expectations of child development and behavior
- Implement special projects with parents and children as directed
- Assist in identification of children who may have varying abilities and secure additional services as needed
- Monitor and ensure materials and equipment for parent-child activities are complete and in good condition
- Actively assist in preparation of family socialization activities, including lesson planning and setup/breakdown
- Assist in identifying families who could benefit from additional supportive services
- Complete child observations and record documentation in required formats and within specified timeframes
- Complete all documentation as assigned, maintaining complete and accurate child files, forms, and records
- Engage parents in the development and implementation of educational curriculum, parent activities, and community involvement
Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field OR Home Visiting Child Development Associate (CDA)
- At least 19 years old
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish
- Ability to attend in-person family visits and meetings
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field OR Home Visiting Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Experience working with children and families preferred
Nice to Have
- Two years relevant college coursework experience, or equivalent combination for candidates without a conferred degree
- Experience working with children and families
