Serve as a Home Delivered Meals driver and Site Aide, transporting prepared meals to home-bound elders and individuals with disabilities, performing wellness checks, and acting as a link between AgeSpan and consumers. This role also provides primary backup to the Site Coordinator at the meal site location in Lowell.
Responsibilities
- Ensure meals are safely packaged in approved food containers to maintain proper holding temperatures
- Load meal containers into personal vehicle
- Follow all traffic and safety laws while on duty
- Deliver meals to consumers according to a predetermined route
- Deliver and set up meals for consumers in their home when necessary
- Ensure consumers with specific dietary requirements receive the corresponding meal
- Conform to any specific delivery instructions noted for the consumer
- Confirm consumer is at home upon meal delivery and report any unusual circumstances
- Perform wellness checks by delivering each meal directly to the consumer
- Record each meal delivery on the route sheet
- Report any issues or concerns regarding the consumer immediately to the office and records
- Record and report if a consumer is not at home when meal delivery is attempted and discard the meal (meals may only be consumed by intended recipient)
- Communicate routine information received from consumer and family members to appropriate agency individuals
- Demonstrate flexibility with changes to delivery schedules or routes
- Work directly with the Site Coordinator and Site Manager to oversee Meal Site
- Schedule volunteer drivers and assign daily routes to volunteers
Requirements
- Able to read, write, understand, and interpret basic English
- Must have own transportation
- Current driver's license and proof of automobile insurance with a minimum liability coverage of $20,000/$40,000
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to get in and out of a vehicle up to 30 times per day
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, walk, and climb multiple flights of stairs at residences that do not have elevators
- Ability to drive in four-season weather conditions
