Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About This Role

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be crucial in maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy machinery for St. Louis Composting, ensuring continuous production of compost, mulch, and topsoil.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various locations to keep machines operational, including mixers, sorters, stackers, and grinders
• Swiftly respond to machine breakdowns, diagnose problems, and execute repairs promptly
• Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts such as bearings, pistons, and gears
• Overhaul and test major components including engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
• Efficiently disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components
• Order parts, provide status updates, and document corrective actions
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing safety and professionalism

Requirements

• Valid US Driver's License
• Personal tools
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
• Proficient in air brakes and suspension systems
• Mechanical experience with a variety of heavy equipment
