Evaluate radiological conditions within a nuclear plant and ensure the implementation of necessary radiological safety measures for nuclear plant workers and the public. This role involves performing surveys, providing job coverage, and briefing personnel to prevent exposure to radioactive materials.
Responsibilities
- Perform dose rate, contamination and airborne radioactivity surveys
- Provide job coverage for work groups to minimize personnel exposure
- Provide briefings and guidance to plant personnel to prohibit unplanned exposure to radioactive material
- Measure and keep records of radiation levels on an assigned shift
- Clean, maintain, and issue respiratory protection equipment
- Perform related work, potentially requiring the use of a respirator
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to pass pre-employment testing (EEI TECH Test)
- Ability to work different shifts
- Ability to receive Unescorted Nuclear Access
- Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills
- Meet ANSI 18.1-1971 or ANSI 3.1 requirements
- One of the following: Associate's degree or equivalent in Radiation Protection, Health Physics or related field; OR High School Diploma and 2 years professional work experience in Radiation Protection, Health Physics or equivalent; OR 6 years Navy Nuclear experience, including Engineering Lab Technician (ELT) qualifications; OR Previous experience in Radiation Protection at commercial nuclear power plants and passed the NUF (North Eastern Fundamentals Exam) or equivalent

- Entry level with specific alternative qualifications
