Head Swim Team Coach

About This Role

This role involves organizing, promoting, and supervising a swim team, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants, and coordinating swim meets and practices under the Aquatics Coordinator's supervision.

Responsibilities

• Accept responsibility for the physical safety and wellbeing of the participants
• Inspect all areas used by the participants daily for potentially hazardous conditions
• Maintain accurate attendance records
• Maintain behavioral guidelines and discipline, enforcing all center rules and regulations
• Communicate clearly and courteously with center staff, participants, and parents
• Investigate and organize one to four meets for the swim team
• Acquire volunteers for each meet
• Hold time trials and seed each swimmer for each meet, producing event cards
• Plan and run practices
• Set up and take down lane lines and other necessary equipment
• Call and email participants to disseminate information or cancel practice due to inclement weather
• Order and pick up all necessary supplies and materials
• Wear appropriate uniform/clothing
• Attend all trainings and meets
• Complete all necessary paperwork, including incident and accident reports
• Coordinate pool usage with Aquatics Coordinator

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of experience coaching swim teams
• Must be 18 years old
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum two (2) years of experience coaching swim teams, with previous experience in planning meets and practices, promotion, operation, and supervision of swim teams. Must be 18 years old.

Nice to Have

• Howard County Pool Operator certification
• Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED and Water Safety Instructor Certification
