Howard County Recreation and Parks seeks energetic and motivated teachers for their Before and After School Child Care Programs. This role involves planning and leading activities, ensuring a positive environment for children aged 5-10, and supporting their development through active engagement.
Responsibilities
- Plan and/or lead organized games
- Lead hands-on projects including arts/crafts, healthy food activities, and science projects
- Prepare snacks following Office of Child Care regulations
- Assist with other duties as needed
Requirements
- Comfortable being active with children
- Ability to be a positive role model
- Participate in activities daily
- Successfully pass a criminal background check (state and federal)
- Ability to obtain certification in Standard First Aid, CPR, Basic Health & Safety Training and other Office of Child Care classes
- Ability to complete 12 hours of continuing education units per school year
Qualifications
- High school diploma, unofficial college transcript, and/or child care course certificates
- Previous leadership or teaching experience preferred. 400 hours supervising school aged children required for Teacher and Teacher Director Qualified roles.

- Background in education, recreation, exercise and/or sports science or related fields
- Previous leadership or teaching experience

Certifications
90-hour child care certification (45 hours in Growth & Development AND 45 hours in School Age Curriculum or equivalent) AND 400 hours supervising school aged children (for Teacher role)
