About This Role

Lead a preschool classroom for children aged 2 years, 9 months through 5, fostering their emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. Oversee daily routines, curriculum implementation, and classroom management while collaborating with a teaching team and engaging with families.

Responsibilities

  • Assume overall responsibility for daily routines, planning, coordinating, and overseeing classroom curriculum
  • Conduct weekly team meetings regarding curriculum and children
  • Maintain, update, and clean the classroom environment and adjoining areas
  • Communicate openly and frequently with families, involving them in the classroom
  • Interact with children frequently, affectionately, and respectfully
  • Develop, prepare, and implement planned daily activities in the classroom
  • Provide anti-bias, non-sexist language, images, and experiences
  • Discuss concerns about specific children with the team and make recommendations to the Director
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff
  • Maintain and document the required number of professional development hours annually
  • Maintain a State of NH Early Childhood Credential
  • Utilize Pyramid Model Practices in teaching practice
  • Maintain and follow all safety and health rules of the center, including state and federal guidelines
  • Supervise children by sight and sound at all times, maintaining required ratios
  • Supervise classroom staff and evaluate teachers and assistants annually

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • 5 years teaching experience in an early childhood classroom
  • Strong classroom management and leadership skills
  • Warmth, understanding of young children and families, and enthusiasm for hard work
  • Willingness to respect and work with families with differing values, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to show imagination and flexibility in classroom planning
  • Skill and creativity in staff supervision
  • Open and professional attitude
  • Sense of humor
  • Commitment to 24 hours of professional development annually

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • 5 years teaching experience in an early childhood classroom
