About This Role

This role serves as the main point of contact for families in crisis requesting child hosting arrangements through the Harbor Families program. It involves assessing and supporting volunteer host families, coordinating child hostings, and providing spiritual guidance in line with Christian principles. The specialist will ensure adherence to social service standards and maintain relationships with referring families and community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact for families in crisis requesting Harbor Families child hosting arrangements
  • Conduct thorough intake assessments and interviews for referring families
  • Maintain regular contact with clients throughout the referral and intake process
  • Assess volunteer Harbor Families host family applicants via in-person home visits and written assessments
  • Manage applications, approvals, and onboarding for all new program volunteers
  • Arrange all aspects and logistics related to child hostings/placements
  • Collaborate with all members of the Harbor Families local, state, and program teams
  • Build and maintain relationships with referral sources
  • Provide means for spiritual growth, including sharing the Gospel and discipleship
  • Assure all paperwork and documentation is up to date and accurate within the database system

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in social work or a related human services field
  • Ability to lift 25lbs
  • Reliable transportation
