Group Leader

About This Role

Lead and supervise participants in a K-6 Afterschool Program, facilitating educational, artistic, and recreational activities. Cultivate positive development in children while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies and procedures in a proactive manner
• Successfully implement educational, artistic, and recreational activities
• Actively engage with and build positive relationships with children
• Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children through close supervision
• Inspect and organize facilities, equipment, and supplies daily; provide supervisors with a daily room check-in log
• Evaluate each scholar’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding
• Maintain accurate program documentation
• Prepare the learning environment that exhibits participants’ work
• Work as a collaborative team; provide support to other Specialists and Group Leaders
• Understand and communicate the Riis Settlement mission and program goals to participants and parents
• Actively participate in all aspects of professional development
• Organize and/or participate in external special events to promote the Agency's mission
• Adhere to all Department of Health and New York State OCFS policies and standards

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. Experience working in an after school setting preferred: Elementary/ Middle School Aged students.

• Experience working in an after-school setting with Elementary/Middle School Aged students
