Grocery Team Member

About This Role

As a Grocery Team Member at Whole Foods Market, you will support the Grocery team by receiving and preparing products, maintaining appealing displays, and ensuring efficient stocking of shelves. You will also provide excellent customer service, contributing to a positive shopping experience and upholding WFM standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products
• Stock and clean grocery shelves, bulk bins, frozen and dairy case
• Monitor and prevent spoilage and communicate waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor
• Maintain back stock in good order
• Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
• Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
• Assist with periodic inventory checks
• Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
• Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
• Follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
• Maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
• Immediately report safety hazards and violations

Requirements

• Ability to sell proactively
• Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in department
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
• Ability to perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
• Strong to excellent communication skills
• Willingness to work as part of a team
• Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards
• Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
