Grocery Team Member

About This Role

This role supports the Grocery team by receiving and preparing products, maintaining floor and displays, and ensuring excellent customer service in accordance with Whole Foods Market standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, front-faced, checked for codes, rotated, and free of out-of-date products
• Stock and clean grocery shelves, bulk bins, frozen, and dairy cases
• Monitor and prevent spoilage, and communicate waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor
• Maintain back stock in good order
• Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing
• Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
• Assist with periodic inventory checks
• Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs, and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
• Maximize sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
• Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices

Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to stand/walk 6-8 hours a day
• Ability to perform motions including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
• Ability to work in various temperatures (<32F, 32-40F, >90F)
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters and electric pallet jacks
• Ability to sell proactively
• Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in department
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
• Ability to perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
• Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner
• Ability to meet customer service expectations
• Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
