About This Role

Perform grit blasting operations to prepare metal parts by removing sand, rust, and dirt, ensuring proper surface finish and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety checks on all cranes and tools at the start of each shift and document as necessary
• Strip materials using grit or Aluminum Oxide on tanks and other parts to remove sand, rust, and dirt
• Vary grit/aluminum oxide concentration and select appropriate pressure for required surface finish
• Apply masking materials to protect areas not to be grit blasted and screw in plugs to protect threads
• Keep equipment clean to ensure proper operation
• Remove exhausted Grit or Aluminum Oxide from the blasting room
• Drive and transfer material into the blast area using cranes, hoists, and forklifts
• Clean and organize the work area at the end of the shift
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Read blueprints

Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures
• Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations
• Basic understanding of computers
• Reading, writing and simple math skills
• Ability to read blueprints

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or at least 1 year working experience in an industrial based environment
• At least 1 year working experience in an industrial based environment
