Lead the daily operations of the F/A-18 MRO team, ensuring maintenance, repair, modifications, and overhaul on the F/A-18 E/F/G platform. This role involves managing technical and personnel aspects, driving process improvements, and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for hiring qualified technicians and maintaining adequate certifications.
- Pre-planning and acquiring resources for planned maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with the team to create and meet the daily plan; create and implement recovery plans as needed.
- Identify constraints and collaborate with functional teams to mitigate delays (i.e. NCR routing, part shortages, tooling needs, etc).
- Provides technical and personnel management of the Operations team.
- Manages, develops, and motivates salary and hourly technicians, shop leads and support personnel.
- Leads process improvements; investigates and resolves process failures (RCCA).
- Create and implement 5S plan.
- Utilize KPI's (i.e. FTQ, Cost, Schedule, etc) to manage the daily operation of an MRO team.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships/partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Aviation Operations, Systems, Avionics, engineering and/or Flight Test
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role
- Willing to travel up to 10%
- Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Aviation Operations, Systems, Avionics, engineering and/or Flight Test; 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role.
Nice to Have
- Bachelors Degree or Higher
- 3+ years of experience working (or leading a team) in either avionics, mechanical or structural maintenance on the F/A-18 platform
- 3+ years of experience working in a "safe for flight" (ramp) aircraft delivery environment
- 5+ years of experience in sustainment, maintenance, and modifications (MRO facility)
- 5+ years of experience working with Government customers (i.e. DCMA, NAVAIR, NAVSUP, etc)
- 5+ years of experience implementing continuous process improvement, lean processes, and employee involvement/engagement strategies in a manufacturing environment.
