The Endoscopy Technologist handles equipment, assists with specimen collection, and supports physicians and registered nurses during procedures. This role is crucial for maintaining sterilization and cleanliness of endoscopy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Handle equipment, specimen collection and assist the physician and registered nurse (RN) during procedures
- Assist with sterilization, high level disinfecting and cleaning of endoscopy equipment
- Set up and break down procedure rooms at the beginning and end of the shift
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly documentation for Quality assurance log sheets in the scope room
- Set up equipment pre-procedure
- Assist with specimen collections intra-procedure
- Clean equipment in conjunction with CDC, AAMI and The Joint Commission Standards on flexible scopes
- Maintain appropriate records and logs for sterilization and/or high level disinfection processes for endoscopic equipment and scopes
- Help maintain adequate supply of chemicals and equipment for equipment reprocessing
- Actively participate during room turnover, set up and post procedure room clean up to optimize room efficiency
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years' patient care and/or hospital patient experience, or currently enrolled in endoscopy technician program
- Basic Life Support

- 2 years' patient care and/or hospital patient experience, or currently enrolled in endoscopy technician program
Certifications
