General Helper

About This Role

Assist shop personnel with various support tasks based on department placement, including loading/unloading materials, transporting parts, and helping with manufacturing processes in an aerospace component manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist operators in conducting shop processes
• Load and unload materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks
• Transport aircraft/aerospace parts to various designated work areas for processing
• Assist operators in racking parts, washing parts, striping masking, drill work holes in raw stock, and cleaning hardware
• Provide support to shop personnel where needed
• Operate hand tools and handling equipment when instructed
• Read traveler or work instructions necessary to assist in operational process
• Move materials and supplies for department personnel
• Assist with housekeeping and cleanup operations
• Lift metal part or stock onto machine and secure it on machine table, in chuck, or holding fixture to assist in setting up machine
• Perform light mechanical assembly
• Properly handle and manage hazardous waste generated in the work area

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple directions, travelers, work instructions, MSD Sheets, and part numbers
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
• Critical thinking skills and good decision making thought processes
• Understanding and application of directions provided by lead/supervisor/manager
• Adhere to company policies and procedures
