Perform composite layup, metal bond layup, and structural assembly for aerospace components, ensuring high precision and adherence to specifications. This role involves operating various machines and tooling to produce complex contoured structural components.
Responsibilities
- Make simple pattern layouts on flat or other metal stock
- Perform drilling, reaming, countersinking, counterboring, tapping, routing, and riveting of detailed parts for bonded rotor blades
- Fill and fair contour surfaces of rotor blades to within .010" tolerances
- Prepare metal for bonding and apply adhesive to parts and sub-assemblies using liquid adhesive spray, brush, and roller coat equipment
- Fit, install, and assemble parts and honeycomb core to structural members, bonding materials, and other details
- Assemble and install structures involving drilling, reaming, riveting, and fastener installation to specifications, including torque operations
- Perform operations necessary for installation, assembly, and integral mating of major structural sub-assemblies
- Aerodynamically balance helicopter rotor blades to customer specifications and Quality Control standards
- Position blade into weight and balance fixtures, read levels for span and chord-wise movement, and read micrometer for sweep
- Record temperature readings, weight, and other pertinent information about the blade
- Regulate, operate, and maintain curing equipment
- Position vacuum-bagged parts or assemblies in the autoclave, locating and positioning thermocouples and attaching vacuum lines, checking for proper vacuum
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to perform basic math functions with whole numbers and decimals
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
