This role is for a Full Stack Developer at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), focused on designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining multi-user web, database, and reporting applications. This position contributes to Medicaid payment rates development and supports a team committed to creating a positive impact in the lives of fellow Texans.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, and modify complex computer programs and database architectures, subroutines, triggers, stored procedures, objects, classes and scripts.
- Perform necessary testing of assigned programs including generation of test data, writing test scripts/execution sequences, examining test results, and debugging detected errors.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure compliance with development standards and system/business requirements.
- Oversee the project development lifecycle and coordinate with business analysts and testers on all creation or modification to applications or reports.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve production problems.
- Analyze, design, develop, and maintain automation solutions using programming languages to improve software process efficiency.
- Design, code, and modify complex data extracts and automated reports.
- Perform technical documentation or assistance on a complex level to staff or customers on hardware, software, or applications.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex web-based or client/server applications.
- Skill in developing C# ASP.NET/React web applications or similar language(s)
- Skill in mining and analyzing data.
- Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming.
- Knowledge of programming language(s)
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards.
- Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems to include the use of the management tools.
- Knowledge of industry best practices for design, analysis, development, validation and implementation.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of methods and procedures analysis, work simplification, forms and records design and control, and staff and equipment utilization.
- Ability to analyze complex business problems and provide web related solutions using .NET framework.
- Ability to participate in projects against established timelines with limited supervision.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to participate in requirements gathering sessions.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of professional experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex web-based or client/server applications.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing and developing database applications using relational database management software.
- Experience designing and developing reports using report development tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience developing applications using a .NET front end with a SQL Server back end.
- Knowledge of structured programming design and methodology and data processing techniques.
- Experience with MS SQL development and maintenance, website maintenance and development, MS Access development and maintenance, JavaScript, jQuery, ASP.net, Data Sources using Visual Studio, analytical skills for debugging application errors, and/or .CSS.
