Fourth Grade Science and Social Sciences Teacher

About This Role

St. Michael's Prep seeks a dynamic, experienced, and collaborative 4th-grade science and social sciences teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The role involves engaging students through project and inquiry-based learning, developing critical thinking, and working closely with other teachers to plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum rooted in Catholic tradition.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages and needs of students in 4th grade
• Teach in a responsive and inclusive manner, engaging students through connected learning opportunities
• Develop expertise in social-emotional learning (Responsive Classroom) and project-based learning
• Create a welcoming and inviting classroom environment that fosters a feeling of significance, belonging, and fun for all students
• Create, revise, and update grade- and course-specific curriculum map (Embark) to ensure all required subject matter is covered
• Plan and implement lessons that emphasize and develop conceptual as well as procedural understanding
• Work and plan collaboratively with the teaching team, including the 4th grade math and ELA teacher and 3rd grade science teacher
• Differentiate instruction for students based on ability and/or interest and promote student collaboration
• Conduct conferences with parents at scheduled intervals and on an as-needed basis
• Manage and monitor student learning and perform assigned duties such as lunch and recess duties
• Maintain effective and timely communication with parents regarding their children’s progress and concerns
• Integrate and learn new technology platforms and applications in meaningful and appropriate ways
• Provide standards-based assessments for all students that evaluate proficiency levels
• Attend weekly team meetings with the Head of Lower School and monthly meetings with the Ed Leadership Team
• Participate in professional development opportunities to utilize innovative tools and techniques

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least five years of teaching experience
• Deep understanding of project and inquiry-based learning
• Skill with technology and enthusiasm for technological growth in education
• Comprehensive understanding of elementary school science and social sciences curriculum, instruction, and assessment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least five years of teaching experience required
