About This Role

This role involves direct engagement with anglers to conduct surveys and record data, participate in Lake Erie fisheries programs, and process and analyze samples in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Implement angler surveys, including direct contact interviews
  • Record data from fishing trips in a standard manner
  • Participate in Lake Erie fisheries programs aboard RV Argo and other vessels
  • Process and analyze samples in a laboratory setting
  • Perform QA/QC and enter data into a database
  • Perform other data processing and entry tasks as office work
  • Conduct field and lab work as needed

Requirements

  • Thirty semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources, wildlife management, mariculture, marine biology, aquaculture, aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology, zoology, marine technology, botany, limnology, hydrology, or oceanography
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to meet transportation needs
  • Ability to negotiate difficult terrain
  • Ability to work in remote areas
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Certification to operate motorized boats or personal watercrafts at time of appointment

Qualifications

  • Thirty semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in related fields
  • Entry level position, no prior experience mentioned beyond academic credit hours.
