About This Role

The Health Director is responsible for the 24-hour health and well-being of staff and campers at a conservation education camp, ensuring compliance with New York State Health Department requirements. This role oversees the camp infirmary, manages medications, and addresses health and safety concerns.

Responsibilities

Distribute and monitor campers' medications
Maintain records of all medications, injuries, and accidents as required by the Department of Health
Monitor camp living quarters for health and safety concerns
Work with the Camp Director to transport campers to and from local urgent care, emergency rooms, doctor offices, and field trip locations
Meet parents/guardians during camper check-in to review medical forms
Maintain the camp infirmary, monitor environmental and individual health, and prepare accident and illness reports
Be on call 24/7 while camp is in session to accompany sick or injured campers to the hospital or urgent care

Requirements

NYS certified as an EMT, Paramedic, LPN, RN, PA, or MD, or other person acceptable to the Department of Health permit-issuing official
CPR/AED certification acceptable to the Department of Health & in its first year of certification
Valid Driver's license
Ability to work in remote areas
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
