Field Technician

About This Role

This Field Technician role involves performing basic fieldwork such as collecting utility information and GPS data, reviewing system maps, and producing field sketches for accurate as-built documentation on utility design projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic field work including collecting information and measurements of utility locations
• Collect GPS data points and review system maps and records
• Produce field sketches for accurate as-built documentation
• Work independently and make field decisions without direct supervision
• Provide field support for design to adhere to company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule
• Compile and submit accurate paperwork and field data for senior staff review
• Adhere to and promote company safety measures at all times
• Work with mobile and desktop applications
• Work in and around active construction sites
• Communicate with client and sub-contractor construction and install teams to coordinate work
• Capture detailed and confirmed field data

Requirements

• Ability to pass DOT drug test
• U.S. Citizenship (for government contracts)
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and interact with team members, clients, and management staff
• Experience working in field in varying weather and site conditions
• Ability/willingness to travel as required
• Clean driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle
• Basic computer skills in MS Office programs and field applications for surveying and data management
• Availability for occasional evening and weekend work

Nice to Have

• AutoCAD experience
• Experience with gas utility installation
