About This Role

This is an open-rank faculty position in Aerospace Engineering focusing on aerothermodynamics, gas-surface interactions, high-temperature physics, and plasma physics to contribute to research and teaching at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Responsibilities

  • Teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels in aerospace engineering and related areas
  • Establish and maintain an active and independent research program
  • Provide service to the department, university, and the profession
  • Mentor students and junior researchers

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
  • Expertise in aerothermodynamics modeling and simulation
  • Expertise in gas-surface thermochemical interactions
  • Expertise in high-temperature physics and ablation processes
  • Expertise in plasma physics, as related to hypersonic flight and atmospheric entry

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in other areas relevant to Aerospace Engineering that complement current departmental strengths
