The Facilities Technician will assist with the day-to-day operations and maintenance of The Wild Center's 115-acre campus, including both facilities and grounds. This role involves maintaining environmental systems, responding to malfunctions, and performing various indoor and outdoor maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, monitor, and complete preventative maintenance on environmental (HVAC), life support pumping, and filtration systems.
- Respond to and remedy facility mechanical, plumbing, and basic electrical malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Maintain building and museum grounds security systems.
- Assist across departments with exhibit development, operations, and maintenance tasks.
- Perform occasional custodial tasks including refuse collection, floor maintenance, and restroom sanitizing.
- Perform indoor and outdoor facility maintenance tasks such as painting, staining, and floor refinishing.
- Perform seasonal grounds-keeping tasks including lawn care, plant care, and snow removal.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections and maintain log records.
- Work weekends and holidays as part of a 4-10 hour day work week.
- Respond to occasional emergency situations.
- Move heavy equipment or materials up to 70 pounds across campus.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years of maintenance and/or construction experience
- Capable of proper use of hand tools, basic plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repairs
- Knowledge of basic computer operations or willingness to learn
- Valid driver's license
