About This Role

The Event Planning Manager is responsible for selling and servicing hotel events to meet or exceed catering sales revenue goals. This role involves managing space allocations, F&B spend, contract details, and maintaining accurate event information.

Responsibilities

  • Control space allocations, F&B spend, and contract details
  • Ensure all information is accurately entered on Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and other hotel communications
  • Attend BEO and Pre-Com meetings with prepared communication
  • Maintain an accurate database of relevant contacts for event planning
  • Provide market information to the Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) on changing conditions, trends, and competition
  • Conduct daily updates to the Director of Catering (DOC) on major business results and achievements
  • Propose and initiate new services and products for guests as approved
  • Responsible for entertaining on-property during site visits and familiarization trips
  • Give clear and accurate instructions to administration assistance
  • Prospect and support recruiting for potential associates
  • Conduct regular department meetings highlighting current and future goals and achievements

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
  • Knowledge of group, social, and corporate catering
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts like discounts, interest, commissions, percentages
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions
  • Ability to successfully prospect and cold call, generating business leads

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-4 years related experience and/or training preferably in a catering/sales role; minimum of 2+ years in a similar position.
