Estimator - Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing

About This Role

This role involves preparing detailed estimates for construction projects, with a focus on Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection/Electrical/Technology/LV System (MEP) trades. The Estimator will communicate estimates to various stakeholders, analyze existing conditions and contract documents, and develop relationships with suppliers and trade partners.

Responsibilities

• Communicate mechanical and electrical estimate and scopes of work to Turner staff, architects, engineers, and owners
• Prepare quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for MEP system items from conceptual design through completed construction documents
• Analyze existing site conditions and contract documents to determine required scope
• Develop working relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors to solicit accurate and current pricing
• Develop working relationships with local MEP trade partners to build and maintain a list of qualified bidders
• Perform constructability analysis of project documents and communicate design and constructability issues to the project team
• Provide first costs analysis and participate in life cycle analysis with the Design team
• Coordinate equipment pricing with SourceBlue for MEP system estimates
• Develop value analysis to define more cost-efficient alternatives to proposed MEP systems, materials, and equipment
• Act as liaison with engineers, design consultants, trade partners, Turner staff, and owner’s representatives to resolve MEP issues

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of related MEP estimating experience
• Knowledge of Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage (MEP) systems
• Ability to use critical thinking skills for understanding and interpreting contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of related Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage System estimating experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
