About This Role

Manage the estimating process and deliverables for concurrent or large construction projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with contract requirements. This role involves leading a team of estimators, collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, and supporting business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating process and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects or a single large/complex project through the entire design phase.
  • Develop estimating deliverables for various project types and delivery methods.
  • Prepare preliminary conceptual cost estimates and budgets with limited information, including clear clarifications of costing assumptions.
  • Collaborate consistently with internal disciplines such as operations, accounting, VDC, purchasing, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with Senior Estimating Manager, preconstruction lead, operations team, and BD staff on all deliverables.
  • Coordinate and execute tasks of estimating personnel assigned to a specific estimate.
  • Communicate and coordinate the entire Gilbane estimating process with Clients and design teams.
  • Prepare costs for each estimating deliverable to align with contract requirements and fee enhancement opportunities.
  • Understand all construction disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical) to prepare reliable estimates.
  • Lead staff to ensure accuracy in estimating process, procedures, and review requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in construction estimating
  • Ability to lead multiple or complex estimates concurrently
  • Extensive knowledge of On-Screen Take-off, Destini, and Sitework software tools
  • Strong collaboration skills for reconciling estimating assumptions with designers and Owners
  • Ability to present estimating deliverables and participate in interviews during the pursuit phase
  • Ability to conceptually estimate projects with limited information
  • Ability to estimate multiple facility types (e.g., residential high-rise, healthcare, interiors, institutional)
  • Ability to estimate within multiple delivery methods
  • Ability to research and maintain market trends (material, equipment, lead times)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 8-15+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
