Equipment Operator Craftsman

About This Role

Operate various types of heavy power construction equipment to excavate, move, and grade materials, while also performing equipment maintenance and potentially training other employees.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment for road and rights-of-way maintenance and repairs, including loading, hauling and dumping on various surfaces
• Load gravel, dirt, and sand
• Smooth and grade roads
• Spread rock and gravel
• Trench and construct ditches for culvert, water pipe, and sewer pipe installation
• Remove silt and debris
• Inspect equipment to identify errors or defects and maintain fluid levels and lubrication
• Instruct and train employees in safe equipment operation and job techniques as needed
• Comply with all safety and project rules

Requirements

• Working knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently
• Able to meet all physical requirements
• Must have all required tools
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Able to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
