About This Role

Lead and develop a remote team of Python engineers focused on model-driven operations and next-generation infrastructure-as-code for high-performance computing, private cloud, data lakes, AI/ML, and analytics. Drive the creation of new products and capabilities to transform software operations within a global open-source company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Python engineers working remotely in global locations
  • Perform hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development for the team
  • Contribute code directly to demonstrate sound engineering principles
  • Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering and operations teams
  • Coordinate with management and internal and external stakeholders or customers
  • Advocate for modern, agile software development practices
  • Help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices
  • Cultivate a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
  • Actively participate in the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders

Requirements

  • Track record of developing and growing people
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about agile software development
  • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring software developers, especially Python developers
  • Knowledgeable in cloud computing concepts & technologies
  • Comfortable administrating Linux servers, including storage and networking
  • Hands-on experience with software automation

Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field (preferred, not required)

Nice to Have

  • Thorough understanding of modern infrastructure, including OpenStack or Kubernetes
  • Experience in operations as well as software development
  • Familiarity with the challenges of large-scale, multi-cloud operations
  • Go expertise
