Engineer II

About This Role

Respond to and resolve guest repair requests as an Engineer II, performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting various hotel systems and equipment. This role involves maintaining inventory, communicating with guests, and mentoring Engineer I staff.

Responsibilities

• Respond and attend to guest repair requests with little to no supervision
• Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication
• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and buildings
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
• Assure each day's activities and problems are communicated to other shifts
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment including plumbing and electrical
• Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems
• Train and mentor other engineers (e.g., Engineer I)
• Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds

Requirements

• Proficiency in at least one of air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management
• Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools
• Basic ability to repair or replace PVC copper pipe (including soldering)
• Basic ability to repair cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, and internet devices
• Ability to replace electrical switches and outlets
• Working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience, plus experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation, and painting.
