This Ecology Summer Intern role from Arbtech, part of Celnor Group, focuses on conducting bat emergence and re-entry surveys (BERS) and preparing client reports. The intern will primarily work unsociable hours performing surveys at dusk and dawn, with additional time spent on data analysis, report writing, and project administration. This hands-on position is critical to the day-to-day operational success and customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct bat emergence/re-entry surveys (BERS) at dusk and occasionally dawn
- Carry out analysis of data from surveys, including bat calls
- Prepare comprehensive reports for clients
- Perform mapping and project administration, including client communication and systems updates
- Manage time flexibly for administrative work around survey schedules
- Travel to site using own reliable transport, with mileage reimbursed, and undertake occasional overnight stays
Requirements
- Live in England or Wales
- Right to live and work in the UK
- Availability to work for the duration of the internship
- Native or professional fluency in English
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Own reliable means of transport for the duration of the contract
- Ability to do occasional overnight stays
- Strong motivation and desire to work hard
- Outstanding organisation skills
- Flexibility to respond to last minute changes
