About This Role

Perform all types of echocardiograms, including 2D, M-Mode, color Doppler, and transesophageal echocardiograms, according to established standards. Maintain a safe environment and ensure proper patient identification and care for diverse age groups.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all echocardiograms to include 2D, M-Mode, color Doppler, pulse wave Doppler, continuous wave Doppler, transesophageal echocardiogram, stress echo and other related examinations
  • Assure proper patient identification and safety
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patient
  • Demonstrate understanding of universal precautions, fire, and disaster roles
  • Complete forms, records, and logs accurately for billing and procedures
  • Prepare echocardiographic worksheet for physicians' review and interpretation
  • Support department Quality Assurance process through accurate, timely, and complete data collection
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and maintain positive professional relationships
  • Resolve conflict and utilize chain of command for appropriate outcomes
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge in response to STAT calls and prioritize orders
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in all echo procedures
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to assess patient condition and provide additional views as needed
  • Manage supplies and forms within the budget
  • Participate in required and continuing educations and complete all mandatory facility and departmental education requirements
  • Responsible for patient preparation including assessing NPO status, patient transport, electrode and blood pressure cuff placement, EKG monitoring setup, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or GED
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association
  • RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an associate degree echo program and/or an accredited echo training program preferred, High School Diploma and/or GED
  • 1 year hospital experience preferred

Nice to Have

  • Graduate from an associate degree echo program and/or an accredited echo training program
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS
  • Experience with equipment including Philips ie33 and EPIQ, TEE probes (to include the sterilization process), and Epic
  • Typing and computer skills
  • 1 year hospital experience
