About This Role

Perform all types of echocardiograms to established standards and practices at a high technical level in a hospital setting for patients aged 12 and above. This role involves maintaining patient safety, preparing worksheets for physicians, and supporting the department's Quality Assurance process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all echocardiograms including 2D, M-Mode, color Doppler, pulse wave Doppler, continuous wave Doppler, transesophageal echocardiogram, and stress echo.
  • Assure proper patient identification and safety.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Demonstrate understanding of universal precautions and role in fire and disaster response.
  • Complete forms, records, and logs accurately for procedures and billing.
  • Prepare echocardiographic worksheets for physicians' review and interpretation.
  • Support department Quality Assurance process through accurate, timely, and complete data collection.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and maintain positive professional relationships with peers, physicians, and customers.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to assess patient conditions and provide additional views to assist cardiologists.
  • Responsible for patient preparation, including assessing compliance with NPO status, patient transport, electrode placement, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or GED
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association
  • RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and/or GED, Graduate from an associate degree echo program and/or an accredited echo training program preferred
  • 1 year hospital experience preferred

Nice to Have

  • Graduate from an associate degree echo program and/or an accredited echo training program
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS
  • Experience with equipment including Philips ie33 and EPIQ, TEE probes (to include the sterilization process), and Epic
  • Typing and computer skills
  • 1 year hospital experience
