Director, Program Management

About This Role

This Director of Program Management role is a strategic partner to the Global Program Lead, responsible for shaping and delivering the Target Product Profile and Integrated Development Strategy for assigned early and/or late development stage assets, focusing on rigorous execution and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key partner and strategic thought partner to the Global Program Lead (GPL) and Global Project Team (GPT)
• Execute the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) per asset indication, ensuring alignment with the Target Product Profile (TPP)
• Lead matrixed Program Management team members to create and maintain integrated cross-functional timelines including scenario plans
• Lead risk management activities at the GPT level, delivering a comprehensive risk management plan with mitigation strategies
• Monitor high-level direct budget and resource health for assigned assets and indications, advocating for necessary resources
• Deliver as a Program Management Subject Matter Expert in discussions with leadership and at governance stage gates
• Support GPT annual objective processes and budget planning for annual and long-term portfolio processes
• May serve as a matrix manager or direct line manager for Program Management resources assigned to the asset
• Foster cross-functional thinking to drive and shape program strategy and optimal decisions for the broader portfolio
• Lead as a change agent and strong representative of the DD PM department vision and ways of working

Requirements

• 12+ years of industry experience
• 10+ years of direct experience in drug development program/project management
• Demonstrated experience in nearly all phases of research and drug development, including global regulatory submissions and lifecycle management
• Proven success as a Program Manager delivering complex program teams with high enterprise visibility
• Strong executive presence with ability to present, influence, and gain alignment at senior governance and executive leadership levels
• Demonstrated ability to manage interdependencies within therapeutic areas, disease areas, functions, and geographies
• Expertise in core Program Management methodologies and tools (planning and control, risk management, stakeholder management and soft skills)
• Ability to resolve critical technical/business problems and shape long-term development strategy for programs of enterprise significance

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS/MBA or Ph.D. desirable) in Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, or other relevant discipline
• 12+ years of industry experience, with at least 10 years of direct experience in drug development program / project management, across various therapy areas
