About This Role

This Director Human Resources position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. They will partner with the HR function to deliver value-added services and act as a business partner. The role focuses on improving work relationships, increasing productivity, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Leadership to identify strategic opportunities for Talent
  • Collaborate with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day employee management, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers
  • Assist international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning, and succession planning
  • Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs
  • Lead special HR projects as assigned, including leading other team members

Requirements

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers, including business leaders and departmental heads
  • Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in leading or contributing to change management initiatives
  • Ability to guide organizations through periods of change and transformation
  • Strong understanding of employee relations principles and experience in managing employee relations issues effectively
  • Experience in coaching and developing managers and employees to enhance performance and promote a positive work culture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational design, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing complex HR business issues

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
