Designer

About This Role

Hodgdon Yachts is seeking an entry-level Designer for its Tenders Division to assist with the design of custom Tenders for the super yacht industry. This role involves creating 3D models and drawings, and collaborating with production to bring designs to completion.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with individuals in the Design and Engineering Department as well as other departments to support efficient production
• Communicate with and support production department design needs based on the overall production schedule
• Navigate, manipulate, or create 3D models and the associated drawings
• Learn the basics of composite construction to assist with the design of components and tooling
• Prepare models for 3D printing
• Review specifications of equipment and designs to aid with regulatory compliance and safety considerations

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience working as a Designer
• Familiarity with boat systems, boat construction, and naval architecture
• Experience with 3D modeling
• Experience with engineering drawing standards
• Experience with Microsoft Office

Qualifications

• B.A. / B.S. or equivalent work experience
• 1-3 years of experience working as a Designer

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with naval architecture
• Familiarity with boatbuilding methods
• Familiarity with composite constructions
• Solid Edge modeling experience
