Design Engineer

About This Role

Design custom mechanical power transmission products, including analyzing gear tooth geometry, conducting shaft deflection calculations, and designing lubrication systems. This role also involves reviewing detailed drawings and providing technical support to manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering activities related to the design of custom mechanical power transmission products
• Analyze and develop gear tooth geometry and load ratings
• Conduct shaft deflection calculations and structural assessments
• Perform bearing selection and bearing life analysis
• Design lubrication systems appropriate for operating conditions
• Develop housing concepts and detailed mechanical layouts
• Create and review gear drive arrangements and overall system configurations
• Prepare assembly instructions and testing documentation
• Review and approve detailed drawings prepared by design or drafting personnel prior to release for manufacturing
• Generate requisition descriptions for major raw material purchases within the ERP system

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in linear and/or rotational mechanical machine design
• Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and create mechanical drawings
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

• Experience with gearing or power transmission systems
• SolidWorks experience
• Experience with ERP systems
