Deputy Project Leader

About This Role

This role is a training position focused on learning to supervise and direct project employees, manage project planning and budgets, and analyze statistical data for BMS and EPMS controls projects in Data Centers.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section of a project
• Identify change orders and ensuring effective resolution
• Price, track and manage change orders
• Plan and monitor cash flow against cash expenses
• Maintain as-builts as work is completed and document project issues/conditions
• Plan and execute project completion and punch list
• Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
• Read and interpret blue prints and project specifications
• Research and compile submittals; pricing change orders and prepare estimates for partially designed projects
• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters
• Communicate with customers, the public, the government, and general contractor representatives
• Understand the timeliness required for decision making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all verbal conversations or agreements

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in related construction field for an electrical or construction contractor
• Experience working on construction projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M
• Experience with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals
• Experience with CPM Scheduling
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints and drawings on projects
• Strong interpersonal and writing skills
• Proven ability to effectively plan and organize activities
• Proficiency with Computers including MS Office, Blue Beam, and PDF

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Preferred EE or Industry related degree)
• 5+ years of experience, with 5 years working for an electrical or construction contractor on projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M.

Nice to Have

• Accubid Estimating (Or equivalent) directly related to Electrical Installations
• Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling Experience and proficiency (or equivalent)
• Ability and Willingness to Travel to project locations as needed
• Background in PLC and SCADA Controls, Building Automation, or Data Centers
