Day Camp Lead Counselor

About This Role

Supervise daily operations of a summer Day Camp Program, serving as a liaison between counselors, leadership staff, and parents. This role involves developing weekly camp schedules and providing on-site leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising the daily operations of the summer Day Camp Program
• Serve as a liaison between Day Camp Counselors and leadership staff
• Communicate with participant's parents
• Assist in developing weekly day camp schedules including activities, crafts, and field trips
• Provide on-site leadership to day camp counselors and participants
• Assist Recreation Specialist in training Day Camp Staff
• Purchase, inventory, and maintain all supplies for Day Camp
• Identify safety issues and maintain positive behavior plan for all day campers
• Supervise children and facilitate activities
• Ensure all equipment is set up and activity area is safe

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• At least 1-3 years of experience working with children
• Knowledge of appropriate programming and activities for youth
• Knowledge of standard safety practices
• Ability to effectively communicate with parents and staff
• Ability to direct the daily operations of the program for the staff
• Ability to follow City Government rules and regulations
• Ability to keep records and complete all necessary paperwork
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Valid Driver's License

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required, minimum of Associate's Degree in education or child care is preferred
• At least 1-3 years of experience working with children (past teaching/coaching experience ideal)
