The Data Scientist III will support IDC by extracting insights from large datasets using mathematics, statistics, computer science, and domain knowledge. This role involves applying analytic modeling, statistical analysis, and programming to assess complex data, translating mission needs into technical requirements, and communicating findings to non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategies to extract insights from large datasets using mathematics, statistics, computer science, and domain knowledge
- Apply analytic modeling, statistical analysis, and programming to explore and assess complex datasets across varying formats and quality
- Translate mission needs into technical requirements
- Guide analysis and communicate findings clearly to non-technical audiences
- Make informed recommendations by staying current with NSA/CSS data capabilities and limitations
Requirements
- 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 12 years of relevant experience with an Associate's degree
- Proficiency in 2 or more of the following skill areas: Foundations (Mathematical, Computational, Statistical), Data Processing (Data management and curation, data description and visualization, workflow and reproducibility), Modeling, Inference, and Prediction (Data modeling and assessment, domain-specific considerations)
- Experience in designing/implementing machine learning, data science, advanced analytical algorithms, programming (e.g., Python), statistical analysis, data management, data mining, data modeling and assessment, artificial intelligence, or software engineering
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, or Computer Science or a degree in a related field
- 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 12 years with an Associate's degree, focused on machine learning, data science, advanced analytical algorithms, programming, statistical analysis, data management, data mining, data modeling and assessment, artificial intelligence, or software engineering.
