This role provides high-quality customer service by ensuring timely release and movement of freight/cargo, preparing and submitting customs documentation, and resolving potential issues. The specialist will also manage customer relationships and resolve payment-related concerns.
Responsibilities
- Provide consistent and impeccable customer service and resolution regarding freight movement
- Prepare, analyze, and submit customs documentation to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems delaying freight release or movement
- Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers, T&B, and other service providers
- Resolve banking and letter of credit problems
- Advise customers on payment terms and obtain payment on delinquent accounts
- Resolve billing issues and coordinate post entry activity on customer's behalf
- Complete accurate data input or corrections into computer files
- Perform route cause analysis as directed by the Account Administrator
- Manage the entry verification process and access client external systems
- Correspond with business partners in various mediums including written, phone, or e-mail
- Produce operational trend reports and keep business partners apprised of the exception process
- Receive and respond to pre-alerts per customer SOP
- Maintain general knowledge of FedEx products and services
- Interact with customers, internal staff/departments, and management at all levels
- Support Account Administrators with account management activities
- Perform entry reconciliation as needed
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with customer's front-line personnel
- Facilitate entry processing, as well as pre-arrival and post-arrival exception resolution
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED
- 12 months of brokerage or transportation experience and/or customer service experience
- Proficient in MS Office and Outlook
- Familiarity with office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner)
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

- Ability to handle high volume and time-sensitive work
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Detail-oriented
- Knowledge in HTS classification and familiar with the harmonized tariff system
- Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and other federal regulations related to customs brokerage
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED
- 12 months of brokerage or transportation experience and/or customer service experience
