Custodial Worker

About This Role

This Custodial Worker position supports the Military's Quality of Life programs within the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness at the All-American Restaurant.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum clean rugs and draperies; shampoo rugs and upholstery; sweep, mop, strip, scrub, wax, and polish floors using industrial-type equipment
• Dust, wax, and polish office furniture; dust ledges and woodwork; empty cigarette disposal cans and waste baskets, disposing of trash and recycling appropriately
• Clean glass partitions, inside and outside windows, walls, and ceiling fixtures using ladders and scaffolds
• Move and set up tables, chairs, and other equipment as required for events
• Maintain restrooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition, cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing lavatories, sinks, and toilet bowls
• Replace deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap; clean mirrors and water fountains; perform light maintenance such as changing light bulbs
• Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and advise supervisor when more are needed or when equipment needs repair or replacement
• Police outside buildings within ten feet

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or older
• Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects
• Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies like floor buffers and vacuum cleaners
• Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor, including unassisted lifting, moving, and carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
