Prepare patients for CT examinations, execute specialized radiologic procedures, and assist radiologists with patient care. This role involves reviewing medical records, inspecting films for quality, training new technologists, and ensuring proper equipment operation and supply maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination by positioning them and executing specialty radiologic examinations
- Assist radiologist/physician in patient care during procedures
- Review patient medical record(s) to verify physician's order prior to examination
- Cross train in other specialty areas/departments/facilities when workload demands to enhance skills
- Inspect films for quality and monitor all films with respect to proper patient name, date, and medical record number
- Assist with training of new technologists and technical assistants in all phases of assigned procedures
- Demonstrate competency and observe safety guidelines when operating all specialized equipment
- Implement Standard Precautions on all patients, as directed by hospital policy
- Adjust to variable schedules and/or procedure techniques that may be required
- Report all equipment malfunctions to lead tech/supervisor and clinical engineering immediately
- Maintain and stock room with proper supplies necessary to complete radiologic examinations
- Demonstrate knowledge and proper use of computer programs, particularly EPIC and SYNAPSE systems
- Complete exam data entry on all studies performed daily and any other necessary paperwork
- Attend monthly department staff meetings as scheduled
- Perform 3D post-processing of specialty CT procedures and cardiac CTA studies
- Proficiently perform Coronary Angio, Cystogram, Virtual Colonography, TAVR, Enterography, Rectal Contrast, and Peripheral IV Catheter placement
- Proficiently operate Siemens & GE CT units and perform/document Phantom Quality Control on these scanners
- Set-up protocols for advanced exams with Radiologist
- Serve as department lead, delegate tasks, and manage workflow in Manager's absence
Requirements
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (CT)
- Current Florida General Radiographer license from the Department of HRS, Radiation Control
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Graduate of an AMA Accredited Educational Radiologic Technology Program for Radiologic Technology or equivalent
- 3 years of clinical experience and/or able to perform all CT exams listed for CT Tech II plus perform 3D post processing of specialty CT procedures
- Proficiency in Coronary Angio, Cystogram, Virtual Colonography, TAVR, Enterography, Rectal Contrast
- Proficiency in Peripheral IV Catheter placement
- Proficiency in Performing & Documenting Phantom Quality Control on Siemens & GE Scanners
- Proficiency in operating Siemens & GE CT units
- Proficiency in 3D post-processing (Circle Of Willis, Aorta, Boney Extremities, Carotids, Cardiac)
- Proficiency in 3D imaging and post processing of Cardiac CTA studies
- Ability to set-up protocols for advanced exams with Radiologist
- Ability to serve as department lead, delegate tasks, and manage the work flow in Manager's absence
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA Accredited Educational Radiologic Technology Program for Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
- 3 years of clinical experience and/or able to perform all CT exams listed for CT Tech II plus perform 3D post processing of specialty CT procedures.
