This role assists adult community members who are opioid dependent or have co-occurring disorders by providing peer support services, engaging them in life skills training to enhance functioning and community integration. The incumbent utilizes shared experiences to foster self-sufficiency in various life aspects and helps clients cope with emotional and familial issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide a stable, safe, and positive environment for clients, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
- Orient and introduce new clients to the peer support program and its objectives.
- Utilize shared experiences to build a bridge with clients, monitor for possible crisis situations, and document patient's progress.
- Ensure participants receive event notifications and document support and case management services.
- Work with assigned participants, log meetings, and record services and information provided daily.
- Encourage patients to access primary medical care and early intervention for chronic disease conditions.
- Attend peer support training and ongoing additional training as required.
- Assist Health professionals to coordinate patient care, including contributing to patient reviews/reports.
- Participate in TTR meetings, trainings and other activities as required.
Requirements
- Obtained an eight (8th) grade level or above education
- Must be First Aid & CPR certified or obtain certification within one (1) month of hire
- Shared experience of personally utilizing behavioral health services (substance abuse treatment)
- Enrolled member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe
- Completion of Peer Support Training and Peer Support Certification
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card
Qualifications
- Eighth (8th) grade level or above education
Nice to Have
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred
- A valid Arizona Driver's License
