Counselor Social Worker

About This Role

This role involves providing a wide range of psychosocial evaluation, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services within a clinical environment, requiring independent decision-making. The position contributes to various behavioral health programs across the hospital system.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services
• Administer psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services
• Oversee psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services
• Provide clinical training to provisional counselors/social workers, students, and/or interns
• Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures
• Complete assessments and provide brief therapeutic support in Emergency Departments and on inpatient medical floors
• Complete intake assessments, safety planning, individual sessions, and facilitate group therapy
• Provide consultation to colleagues about the role of mental health and illness
• Assess for all inmates needing mental health services and provide clearances on housing units at MDC
• Provide short-term evidence-based therapy through scheduled sessions and walk-in appointments

Requirements

• Appropriate license in Counseling or Social Work (Provisional, LMSW, LPC, LMHC, LPCC, LCSW, or MFT)
• CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or Professional Rescuers (within 30 days of position)
• Valid New Mexico Driver's License
• UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit (within 60 days of position)
• MDC Clearance (for MDC positions)

Qualifications

• PhD in a related discipline (for Clinical Counselor Social Worker) or null for others, as requirements vary by role
