About This Role

The Controls Engineer III is responsible for developing and engineering high-quality and safe controls solutions for TAIT's projects. This role involves participation from design through manufacturing, commissioning, and customer handover, focusing on automated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify architecture and key controls technologies to meet project needs
  • Understand entire automated systems and discipline interactions (mechanical, controls, AVL, artistic)
  • Write technical documentation for project requirements and internal purposes
  • Perform safety analysis to satisfy internal standards and external customer requirements
  • Develop custom PLC projects, HMI screens, and software configurations
  • Contribute to design reviews with productive feedback for peers
  • Ensure smooth handover to fabrication and integration teams
  • Promote and contribute to internal standards and processes
  • Commission and formally test installed systems to ensure correct performance and satisfy customer requirements

Requirements

  • Proficiency in both theory and hands-on controls skills
  • Experience with large, distributed control systems
  • Experience with closed-loop motion control
  • Understanding of functional safety standards, including ISO12100, IEC 62061, and ISO 13849
  • Familiarity with Beckhoff, Siemens, and Allen Bradley hardware and software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Theater or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in a related field

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of TAIT Navigator software
  • Experience in live entertainment or theme park applications
