The Controller will oversee financial operations and ensure accurate financial processes for a client in the metro Detroit area, handling daily transactions, AR/AP management, inventory accounting, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily transactional responsibilities including vendor invoices, sales invoices, bank receipts, and bank reconciliations
- Perform AR management, monitor the debtors ledger, chase payments, and resolve customer invoicing queries
- Support Quickbooks inventory control including BOMs, pricing, and inventory movements
- Manage the accounting email inbox, addressing customer, supplier, and colleague queries
- Manage Quickbooks, including supplier set-ups and template management
- Reconcile credit card and staff expenses, ensuring approvals and accurate GL allocation
- Perform AP management, including initiating payment runs and resolving supplier invoicing queries
- Handle inventory accounting management, liaising with purchasing and operations to resolve issues
- Own inventory quantity and valuation accuracy, improving operational processes
- Manage sales tax and income tax processes, liaising with external advisors
- Assist the UK-based team with month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliation
- Support the Management Accountant with variance commentary
- Identify savings and cost efficiencies across the business
- Assist with year-end processes, including auditor, tax, and accounts queries
- Own company compliance across business registration, taxation, and regulatory filings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- QuickBooks experience
- 5+ years accounting and finance experience
- Some ERP experience
- Inventory and some tax experience (sales tax, tax compliance)
