Lead and oversee construction projects for the City of Altamonte Springs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, prescribed specifications, and public safety standards. This role involves field inspections, code enforcement, and coordination with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Inspect all phases of non-structural construction including potable water, reclaimed water, sewer, paving, grading, drainage, landscaping, irrigation and all aspects of site development for compliance with state and city codes and standards and approved plans and specifications
- Confer with owners, contractors and architects concerning installations and corrections to be made when deficiencies are discovered
- Investigate and report on complaints received from any concerned person, group or agency on matters concerning hazardous conditions or practices
- Inspect all phases of permits issued by the Public Works Department, including right-of-way, pavement and striping, driveway connections and site improvements
- Perform code enforcement inspections to ensure that commercial properties are being maintained in conformance with the approved site plan
- Perform field evaluations and provide technical oversight of roadway signing, signals, marking, lighting, work zones and NPDES requirements
- Drive to and from City work sites and be available for emergency call-outs
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- 4 years of progressively responsible sub-professional civil engineering work involving field duties, with at least 2 years directly related to road, drainage, and utility constructions
- Valid driver license (Florida driver license required within 30 days of employment)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Four (4) years progressively responsible sub-professional civil engineering work involving field duties, two (2) of which must have been directly related to road, drainage and utility constructions
