The Project Engineer supports the Site Superintendent and Project Manager in coordinating job site activities to ensure successful project completion, adhering to schedules, budgets, and quality objectives. This role will be based onsite at a large construction project in Manteno, Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains and enhances client, subcontractor and vendor relationships
- Assures construction schedules are maintained by trade contractors
- Updates and reviews project and 3-week look ahead schedules, daily reports, safety checklists, and ensures onsite adherence to company policies
- Coordinates the construction sequence of contractors for assigned trades
- Maintains quality control by frequent and regular inspection of work in progress and completed projects
- Prepares daily photos of construction progress
- Maintains construction safety and administers company and OSHA compliance program
- Supports and coordinates interface between design and field construction
- Maintains updated set of site drawings
- Prepares required field documentation and reports (monthly, weekly and daily)
- Resolves field coordination issues among contractors
Requirements
- 1-4 years of field experience on large projects for a General Contractor or Construction Manager
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of field construction: systems, practices, safety and procedures
- Working knowledge of general engineering principals and construction techniques, materials, methods, and sequencing
- Knowledge of basic scheduling techniques (i.e., Critical Path Method)
- Ability to interpret construction documents
- Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, initiative, and teamwork skills
- Proficient in MS Office
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience
- 1-4 years of field experience on large projects for a General Contractor or Construction Manager
Nice to Have
- Experience with diverse project types including large scale industrial projects such as warehouse/distribution, manufacturing and food processing facilities
- Design-build experience
- Proficient in MS Project
- Proficient in Procore (preferred)
